Dr. Tamela Zimmerman
Avalon Salon and Aesthetic Day Spa is proud to have Dr. Tamela Zimmerman as Director of Medical Services. Dr. Zimmerman has practiced medicine for over 20 years and is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine; she did a fellowship with Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General and currently works at Christ Hospital. She is on the cutting edge of the latest technology, having trained with some of the most well-known doctors in the fields of laser and aesthetic medicine. Early in her career, she studied with Dr. Patrick Bitter, the pioneer of Intense Pulsed Light, and learned advanced techniques and Dermal Fillers with Jeffrey Dover, another pioneer in the field. Dr. Zimmerman was the first physician in the Greater Cincinnati Area to work in a medical spa. We are pleased to have her as part of the Avalon family and look forward to working with her throughout her continued success.
Dr. Alex S. Donath
Dr. Donath graduated with highest honors from Ohio University. He also attended University of Cincinnati Medical School where he was a research scholar, as well as trained at a prestigious fellowship on the east coast. Through extensive studies with Harvard University’s Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Donath is able to stress the most natural appearance in all of his procedures. Dr. Donath goes to great lengths to educate his patients on state-of-the-art approaches to reach their cosmetic desires. He is now accepting appointments for dermal fillers, Botox, Dysport and Zerona Body Shaping/Contouring. Dr. Donath is also providing complimentary consultations at Avalon for all facial plastic procedures including eyelid lifts, facelifts, necklifts, nose reshaping, Stem Cell Lifts SM, and VolumeLiftsSM.
Joan Robb, RN
Joan Robb is a Registered Nurse and a highly trained Aesthetician. Her reputation and acute attention to detail provide her with numerous referrals from physicians, surgeons and even national celebrities.
Body and Eyebrow waxing, Facials, Back facials, Topical Antioxidants, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels (face, chest, body, hand), Lash and Brow tinting, Body treatments-salt glows, seaweed wraps, cellulite wraps, Acne, Aging, Rosacea, Sunscreens, Laser Hair Removal, Laser Hair Reduction, are just some of the treatments Joan performs.
Joan has over 20 years of experience working as a RN in Emergency, Cardiac Cath, Healing Touch, Occ-Health, Operating Room, Permanent Cosmetics, and Endoscopy. She currently is also employed at a local hospital as a Registered Nurse.
Joan has over 10 years medical spa experience with Lasers, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, customized facials, and body waxing.
Every year she travels to attend Cosmetic Dermatology and laser seminars and workshops, along with many other cosmetic and spa industry classes. She has contributed to Skin Inc. Magazine, skin care and waxing education, local newspapers, and television media for her experience in the field.
Nine to Ten years ago, Brazilian bikini waxing was just becoming popular in the Cincinnati area. They did not teach this type of waxing in esthetic schools. Joan sought out training with Lori Nestore, the country's expert in Brazilian and Body waxing and has since earned the distinguished title of: "Cincinnati Wax Queen."
Tyler Huff RN
Tyler Huff RN, Registered Nurse / Licensed Esthetician, has 12 years of skin care experience. His loyal clientele includes men and women of all ages with a wide range of skin care/esthetic concerns. Tyler provides each client with customized, result oriented skin care, while creating experiences that encourage wellness and deep relaxation. He is also a skilled brow and makeup artist, delivering photo ready special event artistry.
